Summary: On August 31, 1929 Joe Aikens and Kenneth Curtis were struck by a snag while acting as fire support, carrying water to firefighters fighting the Smith Creek Forest Fire near the Idaho Border with Canada. Joe who was only 24 and from Tennessee was killed. Kenneth who was from Bonner’s Ferry, Idaho survived although badly injured.
