Summary: On 7/27/1962 Rodney Briscoe and his Forest Service handcrew were transported by helicopter to extinguish an unnamed spot fire on the Moose Creek Ranger District of the Nez Perce National Forest. Briscoe crouched over after leaving the helicpopter but not far enough. Rotor blades struck the 6-foot youth. He was rushed to Moose Creek Ranger Station where he was met by a doctor. He was then flown to Grangeville by plane. He died of his head injury enroute to a Spokane WA hospital. His parents were with him.
