Summary: Captain Peterman and his crew returned from fighting a wildland fire at approximately 1900 hrs. At approximately 2130 hrs, firefighters noticed that Captain Peterman was sick. He was transported by fire department ambulance to the hospital and diagnosed as suffered a heart attack. Captain Peterman underwent emergency bypass surgery. He suffered multiple-system failure after the surgery and never recovered. Captain Peterman died on January 17, 2004.
