Summary: On the morning of 8/2/10, Firefighter Chris Adams of Bradley AR was killed when his Arkansas Forestry Commission apparatus, a 2002 International tractor-trailer unit left the road and rolled over on Highway 360, half a mile east of Highway 29, Lafayette County, AR. He was traveling westbound en route to check on the status of an earlier fire when the truck crossed the center line. The load shifted, causing the truck to overturn. The wrecked transport was found at 1030 hours by the Arkansas State Police. No other vehicles were involved. Chris was wearing his seatbelt.

Little Rock – The Arkansas Forestry Commission mourns the loss of Chris Adams, 25, a Ranger I/firefighter in Lafayette County. Adams was killed Monday morning in a rollover accident while driving an Arkansas Forestry Commission 2002 International tractor trailer.
The accident occurred on Highway 360, approximately one-half mile east of Highway 29, while Adams was en route to check on a fire from earlier in the morning. The cause of the accident is undetermined at this time.
“It’s a tragedy for the forestry family,” said William Sprinkle, District 4 Forester. “It hurts when we lose one of our guys we’re so close to.”
Adams was hired in February 2008, and had received a promotion in March 2009. “What a tragedy. Chris was a great young guy and a good Ranger,” State Forester John T. Shannon said. “God be with Chris and his family and friends.”

Adams, who was a Ranger 1 firefighter, was hired by the Arkansas Forestry Commission in February 2008, and had received a promotion in March 2009.

Chris Adams’ body was released to Smith Funeral Home of Stamps.
