Summary:
On August 10, 1935 Carl Carlson, a 19 year old CCC enrollee, was on patrol duty on a forest fire near Pierce ID. He was struck on the head by a burning snag and died. The fire began in slashings near the divide between Beaver and Scofield Creeks in the Clearwater Country Friday and spread under the urge of a high wind Saturday into timber owned by Potlach Forests, Inc. The fire was contained at 1000 acres. Carl had been in the CCC for 3 weeks.
