Summary: On August 4, 1969, while on assignment at the Sips Fire in Wyoming, Galen Northrup died as the result of a pickup rollover. He was moving firefighting supplies across rough terrain. His brake line was severed and he lost control. The pickup subsequently rolled backwards and turned over. It is believed that he attempted to exit the vehicle but was pinned instead.
