Summary: On 8/10/1989 at about 1430 hours, Kevin Yeager was relaxing and swimming with two friends at the Curren Mountain Fire base camp, 3.33 miles east of Riggins. The three got caught in a strong current. His two friends managed to break free and make it to shore but Kevin was trapped in the current and drowned. Western rivers are notorious for unexpected strong currents and keeper whirlpools.
