Summary: Firefighter Sanders became ill and collapsed at the firehouse while responding to a grass fire call. Sanders was treated immediately at the station by fellow responders and transported to Jane Phillips Hospital in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, and then on to St. Johns Hospital in Tulsa where he died January 29th from a stroke.

Funeral services will be held at the Cornerstone Church, 900 S. Ridgeway in Caney, KS @ 1400 on Tuesday, Feb. 3rd
Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday at the Cornerstone Church in Caney Kansas, with Mr. Mark Artherton and Pastor Brad Sanders officiating. Cremation arrangements were under the direction of the Stumpff Funeral Home & Crematory. (snip)

Mr. Sanders was born on May 11, 1959 at Independence, Kansas to Clifford Harlan and Shirley Jean (Defenbaugh) Sanders. He was raised and received his education in Caney Public Schools in 1978. He was married to Debra Lloyd on April 21, 1994 at Coffeyville, Kansas. They had made their home in Caney all of their married life, where he was active in the community and with the Caney Fire Department as a Volunteer Firefighter since 1991, over 24 years. He loved serving his community as a firefighter, and was also dedicated to his family and grandchildren. He enjoyed watching football and all major sports. He was a laid back and easy going, fun loving guy. He loved being with his family and family get-togethers.
Clifford is survived by his wife Debra Ann (Lloyd) Sanders of the home in Caney, by a daughter Bonda Frank and Fiancé Ronald Doheny, and by a son Brock Sanders of Caney Kansas, a sister Tamala Artherton and husband Mark of Caney, his mother Shirley Sanders of Caney, and by two grandchildren Joshlynn Frank and Brycen Frank both of Caney. And his father and mother-in-law Gary & Floretta Lloyd of Caney. He was preceded in death by his father Clifford Harlan Sanders, and by his grandparents, and a host of Aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
