Summary: An Oak Glen Youth Conservation and Training Program and CDF trainee was hit on the head by a boulder on a 15-acre fire 35 miles east of Riverside on the Morongo Indian Reservation. He died on 8/14/64.
Historical Note: California Governor Edmond “Pat” Brown created the California Youth Conservation & Training Program; when California proved that the program would work in that era, the Federal Government created the Job Corps. The California Youth Conservation and Training Program operated Nov 1, 1963 thru May 31, 1965. It was followed by Job Corps, including The Oak Glen Job Corp, which operated June 1, 1965 thru May 13, 1969.
